This privacy policy explains how darum ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. The App is operated by:
1. Summary
- We do not require an account.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show advertising.
- Most of your data (your quiz history, mistakes, settings) stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
- If you accept on the welcome screen, we collect anonymous usage statistics through PostHog (hosted in the EU). You can decline or change your mind at any time in Settings.
2. Data stored on your device only
The following is stored locally on your device using your device's standard storage (AsyncStorage) and is never transmitted to us:
- Your answers and mistakes
- Your progress and statistics
- Your app settings and preferences
If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted.
3. Optional analytics (only if you accept)
If you tap "Accept" on the welcome screen, the App sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, a product analytics service. The data sent includes:
- Which screens you visit and in what order
- Quiz events (whether an answer was correct, the rule category involved — never anything you typed outside the quiz)
- App version, operating system, device model, language setting
- An anonymous device identifier generated by PostHog (not linked to your name or email)
PostHog stores this data on servers located in the European Union (eu.i.posthog.com). We have a data processing agreement with PostHog. Their privacy policy is available at https://posthog.com/privacy.
Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): your consent.
Retention: analytics data is retained for 6 months and then automatically deleted.
You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data. Withdrawing consent stops further collection but does not delete data already collected (see Section 6 to request deletion).
4. Crash reports
We do not collect crash reports.
5. App store data
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. When you download the App, the relevant store collects information according to its own privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, non-identifying installation statistics from the stores.
6. Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data
- Restriction — restrict processing
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Germany: your state Landesdatenschutzbeauftragte; in Berlin: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, https://www.datenschutz-berlin.de)
To exercise any of these rights, email derdiedarum@gmail.com. Because we have no account system, we may ask you to provide the anonymous device ID shown in Settings → Privacy so we can locate your data in PostHog. We respond within 30 days.
7. Children
The App is suitable for all ages and rated accordingly. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If analytics consent is declined, no data leaves the device.
8. International transfers
Analytics data is processed in the European Union. We do not transfer your data outside the EU/EEA.
9. Security
Data transmitted to PostHog is encrypted in transit (TLS). Locally stored data is protected by your device's operating system.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the App and ask for renewed consent if required. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
